BLAINE, Minn. – (Jan. 12, 2017) – Winter and golf don’t mix well but Glow in one, a new indoor mini golf facility in Blaine, is here to change that.
“It’s an indoor glow in the dark mini golf. We have black lights all over the ceiling to make everything pop and look nice, we’re open all year long, something to do to get out of the cold and have fun with your family or your friends,” said co-owner Brian Miller.
The concept is simple: black lights, 18 holes, and equipment, but to make this dream a reality a lot of work needed to be done. “We built all the holes in my garage, a lot of painting, a lot of trial and error, we had to find a place,” said Miller. Owned by Miller, his wife Jenna, and his brother-in-law Andrew, the three came together to bring fun to the community..
“My brother-in-law’s brother lives in Phoenix and they went down to visit and had a place like this there and came back with this idea and approached me if I wanted in and I thought it was a nice concept. I used to own my own business so I guess the entrepreneur spirit or whatever you want to call it is in my head and I liked the idea, they showed me pictures of how it did and I said well if it worked in Phoenix, a place where you can golf outside year round, then here it has a really good chance to work,” said co-owner Andrew Richter.
While building holes in a garage they needed to find a space and Blaine was in need of all ages entertainment.
“Well this is the first location that we looked at, and then we were looking at another location and ended up coming back here and we’re glad we did. We love being in Blaine,” said Miller.
“We were drawn back here. This had the square footage, the party room, the space to build an office, the space to have games up front, all of the things we wanted in one and we like this area. It’s a growing area here in the Twin Cities and it just became the perfect spot for us to land,” said Richter.
Now the space continues to develop and bring new things to the table every time someone plays.
“Right now it’s different from when we opened. We try to keep adding stuff and make it better. We added more obstacles, we added a Mischief Wheel. You spin it and do whatever it tells you to do, it gives you something good or something bad usually. We have a party room in the back, it can hold up to 30 people. We’ve had a bunch of birthday parties, group events,” said Miller.
They each have a favorite hole they’ve mastered in the process. To anyone who wants to escape the weather and be entertained, Glow in One has a message.
“Well their is a place to go now right by them and also I’d say this, in the summer if you want to beat the heat, come in the air conditioning you can do that as well. Rain or shine we’re here, we’re open 365 days, so anytime you want to beat the bad weather, beat the heat in the summer, we’ll always be open.
