BLAINE, Minn. – (Jan. 18, 2018 ) – This week Republican Congressman Tom Emmer announced that he will seek reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives. This announcement puts an end to speculation that Emmer would run for the U.S. Senate seat recently vacated by Al Franken or return to Minnesota to run for governor.
Emmer said in a press release that he appreciated the support and encouragement he received to run for governor or senator.
Emmer was first elected to represent Minnesota’s sixth congressional district in 2014. He previously served in the Minnesota House and ran an unsuccessful campaign for governor.
