In 2026, voters will elect someone to serve as State Represenative for District 32a. The candidates are:
AMANDA MATCHETT (DFL)
About:
Amanda Matchett is the DFL-endorsed candidate for Minnesota House District 32A, representing Blaine, Ham Lake, and Columbus.
Amanda is an attorney, law professor, and business leader who has spent her career solving complex problems and helping organizations navigate change. She earned her law degree from the University of St. Thomas and an Executive MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. She currently serves as Vice President of Legal for a Minnesota-based technology company and teaches law students as an adjunct professor.
Amanda lives in Blaine with her husband, Ed, and their dog, Barkley. She was married at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine on July 4, 2026, and is proud to call the North Metro home.
Amanda is running because she believes government should make it easier, not harder, for families to build stable, successful lives. Her campaign is centered on Affordability, Stability, and Opportunity and on bringing practical, thoughtful leadership to the Minnesota Legislature.
Important Issues:
Families across the North Metro are working hard but still feeling squeezed. Amanda’s priorities include lowering the cost of housing, healthcare, childcare, and everyday necessities; strengthening public schools; protecting reproductive freedom and civil rights; improving public safety through common-sense gun violence prevention; and creating strong pathways to good-paying jobs.
She will also advocate for the local issues that directly affect our quality of life—from improving safety and mobility along Highway 65 to protecting wetlands, clean water, open space, and the natural resources that make Minnesota special.
Amanda believes residents deserve a representative who listens, works across differences, and focuses on practical solutions rather than political theater.
Goals if Elected:
Amanda’s goal is to help build a Minnesota where a family can afford a home, children can receive an excellent education, workers can build careers that support their families, and seniors can afford to remain in the communities they helped build.
She will work to bring state resources and attention back to Blaine, Ham Lake, and Columbus, including investments in transportation and Highway 65, housing supply and affordability, strong schools, workforce development, and protection of our water and natural resources.
Just as importantly, Amanda wants residents of District 32A to have an accessible, responsive representative who shows up, listens, communicates openly, and works with anyone willing to improve life for the people of the North Metro.
