BLAINE, Minn. – The Blaine Police Department recently welcome a second K-9 officer to the force.
Rex has trained for three months with his partner in justice, Officer Reginald Larson. Rex is an 18-month old Belgian Malinois from the Czech Republic, who officially joined the police department in June.
Rex was brought on board after the Blaine Public Safety Association held fundraisers to cover $6850 of the K-9’s cost. Adding a second dog to the program ensures the continuity of the K-9 unit as Gunner is expected to retire as a police dog in 2015 or 2016.
