ANOKA, Minn. – The weekday fares will decrease by up to one dollar starting August 1st for all customers except persons with disabilities who already received discounted fares. The fares will go back under review April 30th of next year.
The temporary change will also affect the value of train tokens. The token price is now set at one dollar and seventy five cents, and will be valued at both local peak and off-peak fares for up to a value of two dollars and twenty five cents. The fare changes were made after current surveys showed people avoided using the commuter system because of current fare structure and pricing. Northstar ridership recently came in at seven point two five percent below budget. The change passed the Met Council unanimously.
