BLAINE, Minn. – (Dec. 14, 2017) – A shot rang out at a Blaine home, and that shot was fired by a police officer. A Centennial Lakes Police officer fired a weapon while providing assistance to Blaine during a domestic assault call.
Dayle Alan Branson, 64, was arrested on Sunday night and charged with four felonies, including two counts of second-degree assault and two counts of terroristic threats. Centennial Lakes Police Department responded to a call at Branson’s home in the 3200 block of 91st Curve in Blaine. Branson was allegedly threatening other residents of the home with a butcher knife and was brandishing a gun.
Officers say a single shot was fired after Branson refused to comply with police. The shot did not hit anyone, and a stun gun was used to get Branson under control and in custody.
The Blaine Police Department is handling the criminal investigation and The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigative Division will handle the officer-involved shooting.
