After the pandemic forced the USA Cup soccer tournament to take a year off, the players are back at the National Sports Center in Blaine.
RETIRED CENTENNIAL FIREFIGHTER HONORED AT CITY HALL CEREMONY
Randy Lauderbaugh started as a volunteer with Centerville Fire Department in January 1978, and retired June 1st with credit for 44 years. The department presented him with a plaque for his service and the Relief Association presented him with a golden axe to commemorate his service.

3M OPEN GETS READY TO WELCOME FANS BACK
After a year without fans on site, 3M Open officials are getting ready to open the gates to the public this year. This will be the third year that this PGA tournament event to Blaine, and the golf course and the city of Blaine are getting ready.
LINO LAKES STUDIES FORMER YMCA BUILDING FUTURE
The YMCA did not re-open after the pandemic shutdown, and the city of Lino Lakes now owns the building. A consultant told the city council, there’s strong potential for re-opening the building as a recreation and community center. The study even suggests services could be expanded at a lower cost to members.
ANOKA COUNTY PROSECUTORS GET NEEDED BOOST IN FIGHT AGAINST RISING RATE OF AUTO THEFTS
The Anoka County Attorney’s Office applied for a grant from the Minnesota Department of Commerce for more than $180,000 over two years. The county board of commissioners approved the grant, and it will pay for a dedicated auto theft prosecutor in the office.
BLAINE LEADERS MULL POSSIBLE CHANGES TO PIONEER PARK
City council has no actionable items related to Pioneer Park currently before it. City leaders will continue to reach out to any members of the public who have concerns. Public Works Director John Haukaas said the earliest anything would happen would be next year.
