Voters and elections officials had to figure out new ways to vote safely during a pandemic.

ELECTIONS OFFICIALS URGE VOTERS TO DROP OFF ABSENTEE BALLOTS AFTER COURT RULINGS

Absentee ballots must now arrive by Election Day to ensure they will be counted, according to a press release from Anoka County.

CENTENNIAL ELEMENTARY CELEBRATES FIRST NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON HONOR

The U.S. Department of Education has recognized schools as National Blue Ribbon Schools for nearly 40 years as a way to promote efforts the schools make to close the achievement gap and help all students excel.

SCHOOLS OPT TO KEEP EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES GOING FOR NOW

This week three Anoka County school districts decided to continue sports and activities even after middle school and high school students move to distance learning in early November.

CENTERVILLE TOPS IN CENSUS RESPONSE

According to new figures, 90.4% of Centerville residents responded to the census earlier this year.  That puts them first in Anoka County and second in the state of Minnesota.

WINTER PARKING RULES KICK IN

City officials say it’s a good time to remind drivers about winter parking rules.

ALL LICENSE CENTERS WILL BE CLOSED FOR A WEEK FOR UPGRADES TO FAULTY COMPUTER SYSTEM

This switchover will affect all Anoka County License Centers.  The Coon Rapids office will close at 5 p.m. Nov. 10 so staff can have all reporting submitted to DVS by 7 p.m. that day.  All other Anoka County branches will close at normal business hours.
