The filing period has opened for candidates interested in running for Mayor or Council in Circle Pines or Lino Lakes, as well as for candidates interested in running for Spring Lake Park or Anoka-Hennepin School Board.

Some of the work done at the State Capitol over the last year came to fruition this week, as a number of new laws went into effect.

A major road in the area will soon be closing for construction. Main Street in Lino Lakes will close on August 8, and will remain closed for about two weeks.

The grand opening of the area’s newest Wal-Mart is just around the corner. It also signals an opportunity for people looking for employment in the Blaine area.

Another road construction project will impact area motorists for the next three months.
