BLAINE TO CELEBRATE 11TH WORLD FEST

The City of Blaine is getting ready to celebrate their 11th annual World Fest on May 19 from 1-4 p.m.

BLACK BEARS MOVING IN METRO AREA

In the last few days, there have been several black bear sightings across the north metro. A bear was reported in Andover, and there were two sightings in Mounds View.

LINO LAKES TRIES TO CURB DRUNK DRIVING

Minnesota typically sees about 25,000 drunk driving arrests in a year, and about 100 deaths due to impaired driving. The Lino Lakes Public Safety Department is trying to reduce drunk driving incidents in the city.

POLICE CONCERNED ABOUT PEDESTRIAN SAFETY

On April 24 a pedestrian was hit and killed at the intersection of 85th Avenue and University Avenue. That intersection has police concerned as it is a high foot traffic area mixed with a high speed roadway.

SENIOR SAFETY FAIR

Every spring, a few area cities team up to provide a day of safety education to seniors. There is always information to learn about aging, and how to stay safe with an aging body – physically, mentally, and financially.

SPRING BURNING RESTRICTIONS BEGIN

Warm temperatures and dry conditions mean increased wildfire risk, so the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has restricted open burning in several counties.

SCHULTE JOINS LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

Anoka County Commissioner Scott Schulte has been named one of a select group of 23 leaders in county government from across the country to participate in the 15th Annual County Leadership Institute.
