AUTONOMOUS LAWNMOWING AT CONNEXUS ENERGY

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, gas-powered lawn mowers make up about five percent of the total air pollution in the United States. Connexus Energy and a local lawn care company are hoping to reduce that, just a bit. Over the last few weeks, they’ve been testing an autonomous electric lawn mower.

FOGERTY ARENA CELEBRATES 40 YEARS

In October, Fogerty Arena in Blaine will be celebrating 40 years in the community. Back in 1982 the Blaine and Spring Lake Park Youth Hockey Associations teamed up to raise money and build the facility that now sees nearly two million visitors every year.

NACE FOOD SHELF PROVIDES WEEKEND MEALS FOR KIDS

More than one third of students in Anoka County qualify for the free or reduced lunch program in their schools. On the weekends, however, that free food hasn’t always been there. With school back in session, a group of volunteers gets together each week at NACE food shelf to make sure that more than two hundred local kids have access to food all weekend long.

THE CITY OF BLAINE SUES THE CITY OF LEXINGTON OVER SHARED WATER SYSTEM

The debate over who controls what part of which water system continues between the cities of Blaine and Lexington. Last week, Blaine brought a lawsuit against Lexington, and this week Blaine leaders said that they did this, in part, to force the city of Lexington to talk with them.

SCHOOL DISTRICT SUGGESTS BOUNDARY CHANGES AT SEVERAL BLAINE AREA SCHOOLS

The potential changes would begin next school year, and the primary change is that the attendance boundaries for Sunrise Elementary school shrink significantly.
