Candidate Interview:
About the candidate: Hello! I’m Ini Udomah, a proud resident of Blaine since 2003, after moving here from Saint Paul. Growing up, I immersed myself in our community attending local schools, playing soccer with the Blaine Soccer Club, and running track at Blaine High School, graduating in 2020.
I’m running for City Council because I believe it’s vital to ensure that all voices, including our youth, are included in our decision-making processes. Too often, conversations happen without considering the perspectives of younger generations, who will be most affected by the choices we make today. I want to create an environment where everyone feels empowered to share their ideas and concerns, fostering a more inclusive dialogue that shapes a better future for all of us.
My campaign is rooted in principles of transparency, accessibility, and active community involvement. I see a Blaine where every resident, regardless of age or background, feels valued and heard. With a new outlook, I’m confident we can create a future that meets the diverse needs and dreams of all our community members.
I’m dedicated to serving everyone in our community. Together, we can ensure that Blaine continues to be a fantastic place to live, work, and thrive for everyone.
Important Issues: If elected as your City Council representative, I am committed to addressing the key issues that matter most to our community: transparency, accessibility, community engagement, sustainability, and economic growth. It is crucial that we foster an open dialogue where residents are informed and involved in local decisions.
We must prioritize upgrading the roads surrounding Highway 65 to ensure they can accommodate the transformations coming to this vital corridor. Meaningfully planning our city means not only enhancing infrastructure but also promoting sustainable practices that benefit all residents. By prioritizing public safety, we can ensure that everyone feels secure in our community. Together, we can build a vibrant, inclusive community that reflects the needs and aspirations of all.
Goals if Elected: If elected to the City Council, my main goals are to make local government more transparent and accessible so everyone feels heard. I want to find creative ways to boost engagement between the city and residents, because your input matters!
One of my big ideas is to build a community center that acts as a central hub for all of us to connect, share our thoughts, and get involved in local activities. I also want to focus on planning for our future, addressing growth before it becomes a bigger issue, so we can keep Blaine a great place to live. Also reimagining Blaine parks to encompass a wider array of activities and expanding youth & community activities/programs.
