In 2025, voters in Circle Pines will elect a new mayor. Matt Percy is running unopposed.
About: Matt’s family moved to Circle Pines in 2003. From there he involved himself in many city groups, including being an adult leader of Circle Pines Scouts BSA pack and troop 65, as well as serving on the city Planning Commission, Centennial Fire District Steering Committee and the Circle Pines City Council. Matt works in IT for a bank in Minneapolis and has a passion for bending down the city cost curve by making smart investments that pay long term dividends.
Important Issues:
1) Public safety. We need good police and firefighters to have a stable and prosperous community. But that also costs a lot of money — half our budget goes towards these two categories. That’s why it is important that we continue collaborating with neighboring cities to help our public safety departments provide excellent service with the greatest efficiency.
2) Infrastructure. Our community invested a ton of money into rebuilding our streets and citizens are seeing the benefits through better-looking neighborhoods and increased property values. Now it’s important to keep them maintained.
3) Parks and trails. The city is planning some greatly-needed updates for two of our more heavily-used parks: Carl Eck and Baldwin. Look for action around this next year.
Goals if Elected:
1) Build on our new contract with the Spring Lake Park/Blaine/Mounds View fire department to control costs, increase efficiencies and ramp up training opportunities.
2) Secure state funding to complete the Rice Creek North Regional Corridor trail.
3) Keep the Circle Pines tax rate steady and predictable.
