BLAINE, Minn. — The TPC Twin Cities will host the annual 3M Championship, an official PGA Champions tour event, July 30 – August 5. Last Monday, media crews and sponsors filled the TPC clubhouse to hear from the tournament’s biggest names, including the defending champion, Jay Haas.
Haas, coming fresh off a win at the Principle Charity Classic, shared his excitement for playing at the TPC Twin Cities and said that he “Looked forward to playing here in July.”
Tournament Director Hollis Cavner is calling this year’s field one of the greatest ever. Golfing legend Arnold Palmer will join Lee Trevino and Chi Chi Rodriguez in the competition. Cavner reported being “excited for the event.”
The tournament is set to achieve an unprecedented goal for a Champions Tour event as charitable contributions will reach $20 million in 2012, also the events 20th anniversary. “To be the first event to reach $20 million in 20 years is a remarkable milestone,” said Ian Hardgrove, senior vice president of sales/marketing for 3M.
The 3M Championship will take place July 30 – August 5 and general admission is free for spectators.
