BLAINE, Minn. – (July 7, 2016) – The 3M Championship will be back in Blaine the first week in August. The regular stop on the PGA Champions Tour will have a strong field again this year. Kenny Perry will defend his title and try for a historic three-peat against a top field featuring fan favorites Bernhard Langer, Tom Lehman and Colin Montgomerie. Challenging the field for the first time at the 3M Championship will be John Daly and Miguel Angel Jimenez.
The tournament attracts a great field each year in part because the players love the TPC Twin Cities.
“We have a real jewel here as a tournament golf course,” said 3M Championship executive director Hollis Cavner. “Between it, the staff, the way Minnesotan’s treat the pros, that’s what makes the tournament so right.”

“The fans come out in droves. Minnesota fans have always supported what goes on here, I don’t care what the event is whether it be baseball, basketball, football, golf, hockey, fans here support what’s going on. To me it’s one of the reasons I always love to play here because everybody gets behind it so much,” said Lehman.
Another major aspect of the tournament is its commitment to charity.
“We’re in our 24th year. The championship has raised almost $25 million over the 24 year history to support programs at Allina Health hospitals and we’re looking forward to being able to donate another $1.3 million again this year. The patients at Allina get great care from the doctors and nurses there and we really enjoy being able to give the $1.3 million that we gave last year,” said 3M senior vice president Jon Lindekugel.
The 2016 3M Championship will take place from August 1-7 at the TPC Twin Cities in Blaine. Tournament play will take place Friday through Sunday and the popular Greats of Golf competition featuring Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino, and Annika Sorenstam, Hale Irwin, Ben Crenshaw and more will be held on Saturday August 6.
