When the course plays host to a tournament each year, she and her neighbors know how to act.
“Out of respect, we try not to do a lot of partying on the decks,” Brown said. “You want to be quiet for a golf tournament. So, we’re actually encouraged to keep it low-key during the day. We have our (social) events at the end of the day.”
For years it was the 3m Championship, with mostly senior players.
“There was a little joking going on, back-and-forth, and they would play with the audience,” said Brown.
Now, this is the third year it’s been the 3M Open on the PGA Tour with many of the world’s top-ranked players in contention.
“This is more intense,” she said. “There’s much more on the line now.”
Still, she said she’s proud of her city to be able to host such an event and is glad for the benefits it brings to the community.
“The golf tournament is a wonderful asset for Blaine, for Anoka County, the North Metro, the whole Twin Cities,” she said. “It draws attention to all that we have to offer here and it also is an economic boost.”
