This year, 3M Open tournament officials are ready to be back at full force.
“2019 went great, we had a wonderful tournament In 2020, we survived, and in 2021 we’re blowing it away again,” said tournament executive director Hollis Cavner.
The city of Blaine is also ready to be back in the national sports spotlight.
“We already know our community loves golf,” said Mayor Tim Sanders. “To have this event here, it’s a big deal for us and we can’t wait.”
A tournament of this scale is no small task. Several hospitality tents were up by the end of June, with more under construction. Spectators will be shuttled from the National Sport Center, and area law enforcement will be ready for the influx of visitors.
“Without the city of Blaine and Anoka County this doesn’t happen,” said Cavner.
“Public safety number is obviously number one. Our police department, along with the Anoka County Sheriff’s Department, supplies all of that,” said Sanders. “It does take everybody to make sure we have a super successful tournament.”
The 3M Open starts on July 19, and runs through July 25.
