Shari Kunza, with Blaine Parks and Recreation Department commented, “Our former Blaine Parks and Recreation Director, Jim Peterson, who’d built just about every park in the city; and he thought it’d be a great idea to do a 50 park challenge to get people out and see some of the parks that we have in our community. We actually have 64 parks and we’re highlighting 50 of them in the challenge.”
Kunza gives her insight on the challenge and mentions, “My best recommendation is to go out to the park and don’t guess- go out there because once you’re out there, you read the question and you’re like, ‘Oh, that’s it!’ Our goal is to get people outside, enjoying our parks.”
There are prizes for those who answer the most questions correctly. First place prize is $150, second place is $100, and third place is $50. Because there is prize money involved there is sure to also be strategy involved.
The 50 Parks Challenge begins during the Blaine festival, June 26 through June 28, and ends August 7. The winners are to be announced August 11.
