CENTERVILLE, Minn. – (July 28, 2016) – Centerville’s annual Fete des Lacs celebration is just a round the corner, and the festival is expanding this year to include six full days of events.
“Something different this year is we have a whole week of events starting off with the night to unite Tuesday,” said Fete des Lacs committee member Kerri Kolstad.
This is the eighth year that a race has been held on Saturday morning before the parade. This year racers can compete in an 8K, 5K or kids run. After the early morning run around the lakes racers and spectators are encouraged to stay a while and enjoy the rest of the events.
“It brings a lot of families, kids out to the festival because right after the run we will have music,” said Kolstad.

“Followed by the parade which will go through the city of Centerville and then we have events going on at Lamotte Park all day. We have a petting zoo, inflatables, lots of stuff for the kids and of course beer gardens area for the older kids as well,” said Fete des Lacs committee member Chris Bettinger.
“Once people come out in the morning with people cheering for them or family and friends that come out for the runners, then afterwards they can stay and make it a whole day of activities,” said Kolstad.
For many the favorite event takes place on Friday night.
“My favorite event is always the fireworks. Friday night we will be doing the fireworks and thanks a lot to the Lions for helping out with the city of Centerville joined together to put this whole thing together including those fireworks. It will be a good time,” said Bettinger.
Even after 26 years the organizers of Fete des Lacs are working hard to improve the celebration with the goal of bringing the community together.
“This year in particular we have had to put all our heads together. Whether it’s the city staff, or the lions, or the business owners, and try to put together the best Fete des Lacs that we can. I think they’ve really done a good job, it’s going to be a lot of fun. It’s important to our city. Fete des Lacs means festival of lakes and it’s an event that can bring the whole community together,” said Bettinger.
