ANOKA, Minn. – Employees of an Anoka business were faced with an unexpected visitor the morning of Saturday, April 13. Police dispatchers responded to a call at 5:56am after a manager at City Heights Window Cleaning arrived to find a two-wheeled dolly stacked with multiple computer towers, monitors, keyboards, and cables in the middle of the front room. That manager and other employees traced fresh footprints in the snow to a garage in the building. There, employees found 52 year-old Steven Ronald Grbich hiding under a vehicle.
Grbich was detained by employees of the company until law enforcement arrived. They recovered stamps, computer cords, and an external hard drive from Grbich’s pockets, all of which belonged to City Heights. Two folding knives were also found in his jacket.
Grbich admitted to police that he had used a screwdriver to pry open the overhead garage door; he says he intended to sell the property he attempted to steal in order to pay rent.
He was charged with one count of Burglary in the First Degree and one count of Burglary in the Third degree.
