ANDOVER, Minn. – (Nov. 16, 2017) – A drug deal gone bad has left a 17-year-old dead in Andover and three more young people in jail.
Tristan Robinson had arranged on Snapchat to sell marijuana to a group of three individuals. According to the criminal complaint, those individuals had no intention of giving Robinson any money. Instead, they planned to rob him and steal the marijuana.
While Robinson was weighing the drugs inside an Andover home, one of the juvenile suspects reportedly grabbed the drugs and ran. The three suspects then attempted to flee in a vehicle. Robinson attempted to stop them.
According to witness statements, the driver, Loren Gafner, put the car in reverse knocking Robinson to the ground. Witnesses described Robinson being on the ground with his head near the front bumper when the car began to accelerate. The car ran over Robinson and appeared to drag him.
In addition to Gafner, two juveniles have been arrested and prosecutors are seeking the court’s permission to try them as adults. All three face charges of aiding and abetting second degree murder and Gafner also faces a count of criminal vehicular homicide.
If the juveniles are certified as adults all three could face decades in prison. The value of the marijuana they attempted to steal was $100.
