ANOKA COUNTY EXTENDS WINDOW FOR BUSINESSES AND NON-PROFITS TO APPLY FOR CARES ACT RELIEF GRANTS

(PRESS RELEASE) – Anoka County has approved a third application period for its Business and Nonprofit Relief grant program, which offers aid to local businesses and nonprofits that have been impacted by COVID-19.

Grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded to qualifying organizations. This final application window will start at 7 a.m. November 5 and is subject to close once the program is fully subscribed. This program is funded by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

After grants are awarded from the second application period, the county will have funds remaining for potential grants to businesses and nonprofits. Businesses and nonprofits interested in applying for this funding need to submit an application online at anokacountysuccess.org. Organizations can visit this website to review the grant program guidelines, access a video on how to fill out an application and view frequently asked questions. Email accovidrelief@mccdmn.org or jacquel.hajder@co.anoka.mn.us with any questions or for assistance with filling out the online application. Eligible businesses or nonprofits will be approved based on how complete their application is and how quickly they submit their application. If organizations do not submit a complete application, there may not be enough time for grant reviewers to coordinate and gather the correct information to verify their eligibility.

“This program has helped many county businesses and nonprofits with mortgage and utility payments, payroll, reopening costs and more,” said Scott Schulte, chair, Anoka County Board of Commissioners. “By opening one final application window, we hope that the remaining CARES Act funds will be allocated to local organizations that can use this money to rebound from the severe financial impacts of COVID-19.”
