ANOKA COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY UNVEILS UPCOMING FALL EVENTS

ANOKA – (Sept. 15, 2022) – The Anoka County Historical Society released its upcoming events and went over their latest exhibits. Their fall line-up has a little for everybody ranging from ghost tours for people looking for a thrill and to the heritage labs event at the Wargo Nature Center for children.

The Anoka County Historical Society just wrapped up finishing their newest exhibit Federal First Class: Stories of the People Who Primed the Company for Success. This exhibit is at the Anoka Library and contains memorabilia and artifacts from Federal Premium Ammo in Anoka spanning back from its beginning.

The Anoka County Historical Society is working on another busy season, this fall they will be bringing back their ghost tour fundraising event. Experienced guides will take guests through the town of Anoka and will roughly be an hour long – tickets and more information can be found here.

Mystery Science Theater actress Mary Jo Pehl, will be in town November to discuss her new book “Dumb, Dumb, Dumb.” Mary Jo Pehl will also discuss how to use family artifacts and heirlooms to better understand family history.

The Wargo Nature Center will be hosting another season of heritage labs, this year will focus on the early Minnesotan fur trade and will immerse children into what life would have been like for Minnesotans between 1600 to 1800. If you would like to sign up for this event it will run from Sept.13 to Oct. 7 and will be hosted 10 am to 1:40 pm.

Jon Arfstrom’s painting and sketches can still be viewed at the Anoka County Historical Society and as well as the Northtown library in Blaine. Jon Arfstrom artistic works range from simple landscapes and sketches to more mysterious out of this world paintings.

The Historical Society also received a grant to digitize the Olson families documents, these documents will be available to the public for research. The Historical Society is diving into parts of Anoka County which they do not get a lot of attention, the Olson Family lived in Ham Lake.

North Metro TV will be working with the Anoka County Historical Society to uncover stories and create new ones. North Metro TV is offering elderly residents a chance to tell their stories of living in Anoka County and is entirely free – our team will work with the historical society to preserve these historical first-hand accounts of the region.
