ANOKA COUNTY K-9 BITES TEENAGER WHILE OFF-DUTY IN ISANTI, DECLARED A “POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS DOG”

(ANOKA COUNTY – July 6, 2022) – An Anoka County Sheriff’s Office K-9 officer bit a teenager on the hand during an incident in Isanti late last Friday night, according to press releases from the sheriff’s office and the Isanti Police Department.

According to investigators, the call came in from the home of the dog’s deputy partner. The dog, a Belgian Malinois from Czech Republic named Bubba, is nearly three years old and was just introduced earlier this year on the agency’s Facebook page.

A property records check matches the address of the incident to the address of Bubba’s partner.

Investigators say the 13-year-old victim was treated at Cambridge Medical Center. The sheriff’s office, in a press release, wished the child a “speedy recovery.”

The press release continued: “Anoka County has been and will continue to work closely with the victim and family involved in this matter. We certainly understand the concerns that members of the community have and will continue to thoroughly analyze the series of events which occurred in order to make corrections and improvements.”

Per state statute, Isanti police determined the dog could be “potentially dangerous,” and because he was not provoked, officers notified both the dog’s owner and the occupants of the home notice as such.
