(ANOKA) – Anoka County leaders took time at a recent board meeting to recognize the efforts of county staff and citizens who saved a boy’s life at Bunker Beach this summer.
According to staff, lifeguards at the water park found the boy unresponsive in a pool that was not open to the public on August 7. The two-year-old was removed from the water, and a woman who was also at the pool with her children – and is also a nurse – performed CPR.
Staff worked to assist and to get emergency medical crews to the scene quickly.
The boy revived and his mother took time at the meeting to thank those who helped that day.
“You guys all acted perfectly and for that reason we’re still a family of four and I just could not thank you enough,” said mother Shannon Olsen.
The parks director said lifeguards at Bunker Beach receive training every week on lifesaving skills.
