“If (customers) have specific questions about plants, we help them out,” said Lia Spaniolo, the coordinator for the county program, which is part of the University of Minnesota Extension service.
“We really want this to be a really fun community event that gets people engaged and excited about gardening this season,” she said.
The county program has more than 140 master gardeners, and the fundraising plant sale helps support on-going efforts like beautification projects in public spaces and the monthly diagnostic clinics at Bunker Hills park in Coon Rapids.
“It’s very exciting to be back to bring the community back, bring the public back to talk with us and let them know about our projects,” said Spaniolo. “This is really a kickstarter event for us the rest of the season.
