ANOKA, Minn. – Anoka County received the Sunny Award from the Sunshine Review, a national organization that celebrates transparency in state and local government. Out of all of the counties in Minnesota, Anoka County was the only one to receive a perfect A+ rating. Only 113 government entities across the country achieved this perfect score.
The Sunshine Review used a ten-point transparency checklist to examine transparency in over six thousand local government websites, plus websites for each state. Anoka County’s A+ rating was based on the wide range of content posted on the county’s website, including details about the annual budget, audit reports, contact information for elected officials, and other public records.
