ANDOVER, Minn. – (Sept. 15, 2016) – The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office has more than 300 employees and volunteers that serve the fourth largest county in the state. This week they held an open house that welcomed in the community to learn more about their local law enforcement.
“We have six different divisions, we provide multiple services throughout each of those six divisions and lots of different specialty units as well,” said Anoka County Sheriff James Stuart. “It’s important for us to open our doors and show our community this is what each of those areas do, these are the services we provide to all of the 21 communities of Anoka County and even beyond.”
The sites went beyond what people normally get to see. People got to travel behind the scenes and check out some parts of the sheriff’s office that are usually closed to the public.
“There is a lot of things people get to see through our open house. Out SWAT vehicles are set up, our dive team has demonstrations, we have partner helicopter entities here, canine demonstrations, forensic laboratories. Most people aren’t ever going to get as close to a forensics lab again,” said Stuart.
They also enjoy the opportunity to meet with community members face to face and have conversations with people of all ages.
“I think one of the huge benefits of this day is not just having people come through and learn about the Sheriff’s office but really learning about our staff and our team and the hearts of the people I get to see and work with everyday. We have a lot of great ambassadors in every role in the sheriff’s office and for us to be able to meet and be face to face is invaluable,” said Stuart.
In addition to provide sheriff services to the entire county, the Anoka County Sheriff’s office is also provides the patrol services to eight of the communities in the county.
