(ANOKA) – Anoka-Hennepin Schools leaders want parents, teachers, and everyone in the community to be more aware of the trend of e-cigarette use, or vaping, by teenagers. The district has published material about the practice and cites a 2017 University of Michigan study that shows one in three teens reports having at least tried e-cigarettes–and with warnings that the trend will only continue to grow.
On April 16, the district will offer an Anti-Vaping information session from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Anoka-Hennepin Educational Service Center (272 N. Ferry Street, Anoka). There, anyone who is interested can find out more about e-cigarettes, the effects of vaping, and warning signs for how to know if a teen may be trying it or not.
“Most significantly, we’re concerned about the healthy well being of our students, so in order for them to succeed academically, they need to be healthy and to be in class,” said Cherry.
