(ANOKA) – As the North Memorial Health helicopter roared into view over Wilson Elementary School, the summer program students gathered on the hockey rink cheered and pointed excitedly.
The helicopter joined fire and police vehicles at the school so kids could get an up-close view of what emergency responders use to do their jobs as they spent time this summer learning about those jobs.
“We’ve been learning about community helpers: police, firefighters, doctors, dentists–all those sorts of professions,” said Cassidy Streff, site coordinator for Wilson’s summer Adventures Plus program.
“We’re super happy,” said Streff as the helicopter was swarmed by kids behind her. “A lot of our kids haven’t gotten the chance to do something like this before. It’s exciting to see them get to do different things and learn and have new experiences.”
