ANOKA, Minn. – (April 28, 2016) – In a deal reached this week the Anoka-Metro Regional Treatment Center will keep its federal funding.
The state’s second largest psychiatric hospital was put in “immediate jeopardy” status last year after federal inspectors noted several serious issues related to patient care and safety. Last year 72 staff injuries were reported at the facility up from only 38 two years earlier.
As a part of the deal with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services the hospital will be under federal oversight for another year and an outside consultant will undertake a complete review of the facility.
Governor Dayton has proposed $30.3 million worth of upgrades and Anoka-Metro as a part of a larger package for mental health facilities across Minnesota.
