ANOKA, Minn. – (April 9, 2015) – In just a few months, a new business will be open in Anoka. Just off Main Street will be Anoka County’s second brewery. “When I started out, I brewed one batch just based off a recipe and it turned out awesome so I decided to brew a couple more batches and it got to the point where I was brewing a batch every single week. At the same time I was traveling for my job all over the United States visiting different taprooms and breweries and I decided that the taproom concept was cool, I liked it,” says Jesse Hauf, owner of 10K Brewing.
After Jesse got the idea of opening his own taproom, he brought the idea to his sister, Ashley Hauf, who specializes in marketing to see if she would like to tackle the new business with him. “He ran the idea by me when we were at dinner at our parent’s house and I was like, yep let’s do it!” said Ashley.
After getting an ordinance changed in the city, they have moved into their space and begun renovations. They plan on opening by mid-summer and hope to bring a new option for a night out to downtown Anoka. “In Downtown Anoka, and the central area in general, has nothing like what 10K Brewing is going to have. Yeah you can get different craft beers on tap or in bottle but there’s no where in the area where you can come to a taproom, sit down, and drink a beer that was just brewed that morning,” says Ashley.
As they work towards selling their first beer, they are both still working their current jobs as well. They also are in the middle of a kickstarter campaign where they hope to raise enough money to restore the building they will be leasing, and to upgrade to a more efficient brewing system.
