BLAINE, Minn. (April 26, 2018) – A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed Tuesday in Blaine. The accident happened near Northtown Mall at the intersection of University Avenue and 85th Avenue Northeast. According to the police report, a 73-year-old male from Coon Rapids was driving southbound on University and struck the 51-year-old Minneapolis man.
Life-saving efforts were not successful and the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. An officer who witnessed the accident said the pedestrian failed to yield to the right of way of the vehicle.
The accident is being investigated by the Minnesota State Patrol, Blaine Police Department, Anoka County Sherriff’s Office and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.
