SPRING LAKE PARK, Minn, – (Sept 17, 2015) – The Spring Lake Park School District has spent much of the last year evaluating their future facility needs. With district enrollment increasing each year and expected to continue to grow, the district is facing a space crunch. A district facilities task force has prioritized the construction of a new elementary school.
The district has two potential sites for a new school in Blaine. One is near the National Sports Center on 105th Avenue and a second site is near the intersection of 109th and Lexington Avenues. The final recommendations will be made to the school board by the end of the year. The district is then expected to ask the voters to approve a bond referendum to fund the new school and other facility updates. A vote on the referendum could happen at a special election next spring.
