ANOKA, Minn. – (Aug 20, 2015) – On Aug. 17, Anthony Zappa-Rocco handed a teller at the Anoka Wells Fargo Bank a note that demanded money for the terror group ISIS.
He walked out of the bank with $402 and walked over to the Anoka County Jail and turned himself in for the robbery.
Zappa-Rocco told law enforcement officers that he robbed the bank with the hopes of ending up in jail, and that he was looking for protection. He alleged that the CIA had been trying to assassinate him for months and he needed to be in a safe place.
The FBI was involved with the investigation, along with the Anoka Police Department and Anoka County Sheriff’s Office. There is no evidence to suggest that his life was in danger at any time.
He has been charged with felony robbery and remains in the Anoka County Jail.
