Beyond the Yellow Ribbon to Provide a Dinner for Veterans

LINO LAKES, Minn. – (Jan. 28, 2015) – Several cities in Minnesota including Blaine and Spring Lake Park have been officially designated as Beyond the Yellow Ribbon cities. A Beyond the Yellow Ribbon city has a program in place to connect military families to any services that they made need. In Lino Lakes a group of committed volunteers are working to put a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon program in place.

“We have had our community kick off last fall and now we are having the veteran’s dinner on February 4 to bring the military families, the veterans themselves into the process” said Lino Lakes Beyond the Yellow Ribbon volunteer Dorothy Radermacher.  The dinner will be held on Thursday, February 4 at St. Joseph’s of the Lakes in Lino Lakes, and the organizers are hoping for a big turn out.

“Any active military, any veteran is encouraged and welcome to come and bring their families.  It is a free spaghetti dinner,” said Radermacher.  Along with the free dinner there will be several organizations at the event that will be looking to connect with veterans and their families to see if they can provide any assistance. The dinner will also be another step along the process of becoming a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon city.  “I really see a need to unite and do what we can for those families,” said Radermacher.
