“Whenever you’re rollerblading, biking or skateboarding we recommend you always have a helmet,” said Battalion Chief Jeff Lundquist. “You want to protect that head, right? So it’s not just having a helmet on your head, it’s about properly sitting on your head correctly. A lot of people like to have it back too far, but it’s all about the positioning, and not how loose. So if you turn your head, your helmet shouldn’t flop around. Your head and your helmet should stay together.”
If you missed the recent helmet clinic, another is planned for Saturday, May 22, 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at SBM Fire Station #3 in Blaine. The helmets are $10 each. Sizes are available to fit everyone in the family. You can also bring in your old helmet from home to get it properly adjusted for free.
