Rain didn’t stop residents in Blaine from coming out to the inaugural Oktoberfest event at Tom Ryan Park. The event had a craft fair, two different bands, food vendors and also a beer garden.Tom Ryan Park was fenced in for the beer garden, this was the first time alcohol was allowed in the park.
“This is the first time we had beer in the park, it’s a different kind of situation and we hope to keep this going every year.,” said Joy Handt, Blaine Parks and Recreation Manager.
The event was sponsored by the community and Twin Cities Gateway.
“We had a grant from Twin Cities Gateway and it’s a way to bring more community events to Blaine. This entire event, the two bands and the petting zoo was paid for by the grant,” said Joy Handt.
