BLAINE, Minn. – (Feb. 20, 2020) – City leaders helped welcome the community to the brand new Mary Ann Young Center in Blaine. The new 15,000 square-foot building replaces the 4,800 square-foot building that was built nearly 40 years ago on the same spot in Aquatore Park.
The grand opening celebration included presentations to city leaders and to members of young’s family who were able to attend.
It’s a project years in the making, and should help the city serve more people.
“We were out of space,” said Shelley Johnson, the center’s director. “We couldn’t do regular permanent programming. Now we can lead six-week classes, we can have elections here. The sky’s the limit. We’re very excited.”
