BLAINE, Minn. – (Dec. 10, 2015) – Blaine could be seeing its first brewery by this time next year. The Blaine Economic Development Authority authorized the sale of a city-owned parcel of land in an industrial park near the National Sports Center.
The sale was to a group of six investors who plan to build a 7,500 square-foot facility that would include a brewery, taproom, and restaurant on the property.
The closing date for the sale will be April 30. The reason for the delayed closing date is due to the possibility of a new elementary school being built on a neighboring property.
If the elementary school goes forward, the land sale would be voided.
The Spring Lake Park school district will ask voters this spring to approve a bond referendum to build a new elementary school for the growing district. The district has three potential sites including one near the brewery land. The district is expected to pick a site by mid-January.
