“The city will be taking an educational approach to enforcement of these regulations that are currently in place regarding the park system,” said Ben Hayle, City of Blaine Communications Manager. “We’ll have park and recreation staff out in the parks serving as park ambassadors to share information about social distancing. If they see groups of people on playgrounds they will ask them to leave the playgrounds and tell them that they are closed.”
“We won’t be able to respond to every single call about a large group gathering – we just don’t have the resources to do that, so we are really asking for the community’s help and support in following the social distancing guidelines, and following the regulations that are currently in place to really slow the spread of COVID-19 the best we can here in Blaine,” said Hayle.
Playground closures will remain in effect until future notice. Open space in parks and trails remain open, and people are welcome to use them while following social distancing. Signs have been placed at trail heads encouraging people to maintain space between others on the trails.
