Because of construction of the new senior center adjacent to Aquatore Park, and the subsequent impact on parking–not to mention construction on area roads–mean organizers had to look for other parking options. They’ve worked out a deal to offer parking at Westwood Middle School with free shuttle service every 15 minutes.
“We’re trying to encourage people to (park at the school) with the location being so close,” said Kat Smithe with the Blaine Festival Committee. “You just drive down Cloverleaf, take a left on Polk, and a right on 91st, and you’re basically at the school. The distance is very minimal.”
Smithe estimated the shuttle ride was about 8 minutes each way. She also said anyone who takes advantage of the middle school parking was eligible to be entered into a drawing for a prize.
She said some of the attractions will be moved around to accommodate the senior center construction.
