BLAINE, Minn. – (June 16, 2016) – Blaine has a long tradition of gathering the community together in the summer to have fun and celebrate the weather. Blaine Festival kicks off it’s 2016 festivities June 24 at Aquatore Park. This year the festival is better than ever. “That’s what it’s all about, having a big fun community weekend. We have a lot of community support, we have a lot of community businesses and organizations that have stepped up helping out with sponsorship in some way shape of form.
Last year we started a civic tent so we have one location for all our non-profit civic organizations and their is no charge for them to be in that tent,” said Blaine Festival committee member Kat Smithe.

It won’t be only a chance to support local non-profits though, as the kids attractions are back including a petting zoo, the raptor center bringing a bald eagle, and the Rad Zoo coming with reptiles and amphibians. “Kids love the zoos that we have. We have kids games on Saturday, we have carpet bowling by Brunswick Bowl, Home Depot is coming with their kids workshop, and we have lots of fun things for everyone to do,” said Smithe.
The weekend long celebration includes a parade, live music, a car show and much more.
“We hope everyone comes out and enjoys themselves and have a really good time, that’s the goal. Celebrating community,” said Smithe.
