BLAINE, Minn. – (Dec. 14, 2017) – Blaine homeowners will see a slight increase in garbage rates in 2018. The Blaine City Council approved the sanitation and storm drainage utility fees last month.
While there will be no increase in the storm drainage utility fee that’s not the case with garbage fees. A 32-gallon container will increase from $31.50 to $33 per quarter, a 64-gallon container will go up from $42 to $43.50 and 96 gallon cart will go from $57 to $58.50 next year.
The city has a contract with Walters Recycling and Refuse for all residential garbage and recycling collection in the city. The contract has small increases built in each year. The contract with Walters Recycling will continue through June of 2021.
