(PRESS RELEASE) – Graduation rates for students in the Anoka-Hennepin School District continue to increase with district totals for 2019 at 86.62%, a number that includes increasing numbers of black and asian students receiving diplomas in four years. Anoka-Hennepin continues to outpace the state graduation average overall, as well as in the majority of student groups.
“These results reflect the focus our staff has on connecting with all students and helping them reach their graduation goal,” said Superintendent David Law. “Beyond the data points are the success stories of many individual teachers, paraeducators, support staff, and administrators doing their best to help students overcome challenges and earn their diplomas in greater numbers.”
Blaine High School recorded the highest graduation rate in recent history at 93.79%, a 1.97% increase for 2019. In 2019, four of Anoka-Hennepin’s traditional high schools recorded graduation rates over 90%. At the same time, the graduation difference rate between black and white students decreased to less than 10% in four of the district’s high schools.
