(BLAINE) – Blaine High School graduate Madison Schmidt, a three-sport star for the Bengals, was named Gatorade Minnesota Track & Field Player of the Year for the second straight year.
Schmidt set a state record with a high jump by clearing six feet, and she is a two-time state champion in high jump and an all-conference performer in the 800-meter run. She was captain of the track, volleyball, and basketball teams.
“Madison is the type of student-athlete that comes to mind when you think ‘coach’s dream,’” said Ann Stalboerger, head coach of Blaine High in a Gatorade press release. “She is truly a student first and wants to do things correctly. She works hard to perfect small details that can connect to a larger strategy.”
Schmidt graduated from Blaine last month with a weighted 4.27 GPA will compete for and attend University of Notre Dame.
