BLAINE, Minn. — Thursday night, Governor Mark Dayton presented Blaine with the Yellow Ribbon Community designation during the pre-game ceremony prior to the St. Paul Saints home opener at Midway Stadium. Last April, Blaine Mayor Tom Ryan led a kick-off meeting to begin the process for becoming a nationally recognized Yellow Ribbon Community. More than fifty community members and leaders attended the meeting to learn about the program. The program connects service members and their families with community support, training, services, and resources to aid them during deployment. There is no cost to participate in the program. Blaine’s Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Steering Committee meets the third Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Blaine City Hall. The committee is open to anyone interested in learning more about the program. If you are a service member or family of a service member and have any interest or questions regarding the program, you can contact Rebecca Olson at 763-785-6120 or by email at rolson@ci.blaine.mn.us. That information will also be on our website at northmetrotv.com.
