(BLAINE) – Blaine is the fastest growing city in the metro, according to figures out from the Metropolitan Council. It released preliminary population estimates for the seven-county area, and Blaine has had the largest population increase by percentage since 2010.
The city has grown 16.6 percent since the last Census, with more than nine thousand new people. Minneapolis and Saint Paul both had a larger number of new residents than Blaine, but saw a lower percentage increase.
The Met Council uses the estimates each year to determine local government aid and local street aid amounts.
