BLAINE, Minn. – (Feb. 5, 2013) – A Blaine man is facing criminal charges after sending lewd photographs to his 12-year-old student.
Ali Islam Morey, a Blaine karate instructor, was charged Monday with engaging in electronic communication relating or describing sexual conduct with a child. Twenty-one-year-old Morey allegedly sent messages and pictures through Facebook to a 12-year-old girl who took lessons at Professional Karate Studios in Blaine.
According to the criminal complaint, some of the messages included sexual pictures of his genitals and suggestive language to the young girl. According to police, Morey admitted to the accusations and to telling the student to keep their conversation a secret.
Morey began taking classes at the studios as a child and later went on to become an instructor. Professional Karate Studios held a parent meeting this week to tell parents about the allegations. There have been no prior reports or complaints of this nature involving the business.
Morey faces up to three years in prison.
