COON RAPIDS, Minn. – Over a year and a half after her death, the boyfriend of Susan Courteau has been found guilty of First Degree Murder with a Past Pattern of Domestic Abuse.
Patrick William Benton, 55, of Blaine was charged in the death of Courteau, which occurred on October 13, 2011. Reports indicate that Corteau had Benton removed from her Coon Rapids home earlier that day, citing that he was drinking heavily and was scaring her. However, Benton returned to the home later that day and stabbed her to death. She was found later that evening by her sister.
Benton’s sentencing is set for May 29.
